Three things, in our experience. They arrive at midday, when both cities close their temples for roughly two and a half hours. They carry phones into places that do not allow them — nothing may be taken inside the Ram Mandir complex, and Sankat Mochan has no storage at all. And they skip the traditional order: Hanuman Garhi before Ram Lalla, Kaal Bhairav before Kashi Vishwanath, Veni Madhav after the Sangam snan. None of it is obvious from a booking site, and all of it changes the day.

Tradition is explicit: after bathing at the confluence, the yatra is completed with darshan at Veni Madhav, one of the Dwadash Madhav temples said to guard the Sangam. Skipping it is like taking Vishwanath darshan in Kashi without Kaal Bhairav. It takes twenty minutes, and it is the single most common omission in a Prayagraj itinerary.
Every January and February the Magh Mela turns the floodplain into a temporary city of tents and bathing ghats; every twelve years that becomes the Maha Kumbh.
