🚩 Ayodhya & Varanasi

Best time to visit. October to March is the most comfortable period for exploring Varanasi, especially for early morning boat rides and walks through the old city. May and June can be extremely hot, with daytime temperatures often rising above 40°C.
Book the French-speaking guide early. French-speaking guides are limited in Varanasi, particularly from October to March. Share your travel dates as early as possible so guide availability can be checked before your booking is confirmed.
Dress appropriately for temples. Keep your shoulders and knees covered when visiting temples. Wear comfortable slip-on footwear because you will need to remove your shoes repeatedly at religious sites.
Be careful with photography. Photography is generally possible around many ghats, but cremation areas at Manikarnika and Harishchandra Ghats require complete respect and discretion. Never photograph cremation rituals or people without permission.
Allow extra time for the old city. Vehicles cannot enter many of Varanasi's narrow lanes around Kashi Vishwanath Temple. Expect some walking, especially during temple visits, and allow extra time because crowds can slow even short routes.

Founder & Pilgrimage Travel Expert
Uttar Pradesh, India
Amit Kumar Deshwal was born in Uttar Pradesh, and the pilgrimage circuit he now plans for a living is the one he grew up around. What began as showing visitors the temples he already knew has become a full travel operation — but the working knowledge underneath it is still first-hand.
More than 15,000 guests have travelled with him. Families, elderly parents, first-time visitors and large temple groups — enough of them, over enough years, that very little surprises him now. He knows which darshan queue is worth joining at seven in the morning, which one is not, and what to do when a temple changes its timings on a festival day without telling anyone.
His ground is Ayodhya and Varanasi, extending west into the Braj circuit of Mathura, Vrindavan and Agra. That range matters more than it sounds: it is the difference between handing a guest an itinerary and being able to say, from having stood there, how long the walk actually takes.
The reason Ayodhya Varanasi Guides exists is a frustration he heard from guests over and over — a different agent for the cab, another for the hotel, a third for the guide, and nobody accountable when a darshan slot fell through. His answer was to put all of it in one place, under one number, with the pricing written down before anyone travels.
Every itinerary on this site is planned or reviewed by Amit and his team, and corrected whenever conditions on the ground change.

The package includes comfortable hotel accommodation, private AC transportation, sightseeing, major temple visits, Ganga experiences and assistance from a French-speaking guide during the planned sightseeing schedule.
The standard Varanasi Tour Package with French Speaking Guide is planned for 3 days and 2 nights, allowing enough time for the major temples, ghats, Sarnath and the main cultural experiences.
The package starts from ₹29,999 per person. The final cost can change according to the hotel category, travel dates, group size and availability of the French-speaking guide.
The itinerary covers Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Kal Bhairav Temple, Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple, Assi Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat, Sarnath and the River Ganga, along with other sightseeing depending on available time.
A French-speaking guide can be arranged for the sightseeing schedule, subject to availability on your selected dates. We recommend confirming the requirement in advance because the number of French-speaking guides in Varanasi is limited.
The guide explains the history of Varanasi, temple traditions, religious rituals, local customs and the significance of the ghats in French, while also helping you understand what is happening during temple visits and the Ganga Aarti.
Yes, Kashi Vishwanath Temple darshan is included in the itinerary. I generally schedule this visit in the morning because the temple has different ritual periods during the day and the surrounding old-city lanes become increasingly crowded later.
Yes, the evening Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat is included. Your guide can explain the sequence of the ceremony and its significance in French while you experience the aarti from the designated viewing area.
Yes, the itinerary includes an early morning Ganga boat ride. The ride usually begins around sunrise and provides views of several important ghats, although boat operations can change because of weather, river conditions or local regulations.
Yes, Sarnath is included in the itinerary. The visit generally covers Dhamek Stupa and the main archaeological area, where the French-speaking guide explains the site's Buddhist history and connection with Gautama Buddha.
Yes, the package works well for French-speaking families, couples, senior travellers and small groups who prefer to understand Varanasi's temples, rituals and local customs through explanations in French rather than relying only on written information.
Yes, senior citizens can travel with private AC transportation and a flexible sightseeing schedule. However, some parts of Varanasi require walking through narrow lanes and crowded areas, particularly around Kashi Vishwanath and the ghats.
Flights and train tickets to and from Varanasi are not included in the standard package. They can be arranged separately if required, while airport or railway station transfers can be planned around your arrival and departure timings.
Yes, the itinerary can be adjusted according to your arrival time, departure schedule, preferred hotel category, sightseeing interests and the amount of walking you are comfortable with.
October to March is generally the most comfortable period for sightseeing because temperatures are lower and outdoor activities such as the Ganga boat ride and ghat walks are easier. Festival periods can be much more crowded.
Advance booking is strongly recommended, particularly from October to March when international and domestic tourist demand increases. Confirming early gives more time to check the availability of a suitable French-speaking guide for your exact dates.
Standard temple visits are covered according to the itinerary, but special darshan, paid rituals, priority access or other optional services may involve additional charges. These should be confirmed before booking.
VIP or special darshan is not included in the standard package. If you require a special darshan arrangement, it can be requested separately and will depend on availability, temple rules and applicable charges.
The tour normally ends with a private transfer to Varanasi Airport or Varanasi Railway Station according to your departure schedule. The final sightseeing can be adjusted so that you have sufficient time for your onward journey.
To book the package, share your preferred travel dates, number of travellers and accommodation preference with Ayodhya Varanasi Guide. French-speaking guide availability can then be checked before the itinerary and final booking details are confirmed.

Package Overview
Most French-speaking travellers arriving in Varanasi have already done plenty of research before their trip. They have read about Kashi Vishwanath, watched videos of the Ganga Aarti and probably seen photographs of the ghats. Yet, once they enter the old city, many find that understanding what is happening around them is much harder than expected. The narrow lanes, unfamiliar rituals, constant activity and different customs can make the first few hours confusing. That is where having someone who can explain everything in French makes a real difference.
This Varanasi Tour Package with French Speaking Guide is designed around that experience. You get private transportation, comfortable accommodation and a French-speaking guide who helps you understand the city rather than simply taking you from one sightseeing point to another. Whether it is explaining the significance of Kashi Vishwanath Temple, helping you understand the rituals at the ghats or translating what is being said during the Ganga Aarti, the guide makes the experience easier to follow in your own language.
The itinerary covers some of the most important spiritual and cultural experiences of Varanasi, including Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Kal Bhairav Temple, Sankat Mochan Temple, Assi Ghat, Sarnath and the evening Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat.An early morning Ganga boat ride can also be arranged, giving you an opportunity to see the ghats before the city becomes busy.
About the guide, honestly: French-speaking guides in Varanasi are limited, and availability becomes particularly tight between October and March. We recommend giving us advance notice so that we can check and confirm a French-speaking guide for your travel dates. If a suitable French-speaking guide is not available, you will be informed before making the final payment rather than being given an English-speaking guide without your knowledge.
The package is suitable for French-speaking couples, families, senior travellers and small groups who want a more personal Varanasi experience. The sightseeing schedule can also be adjusted according to your arrival time, interests and comfort, while the private vehicle allows you to travel between the major attractions without depending on shared transportation.

Travel Plan
Most first-time travellers in Varanasi try to fit Kashi Vishwanath Darshan into the first afternoon, but the old-city lanes are already crowded by then. I keep the arrival day lighter. After pickup from Varanasi Airport or Railway Station, we check in and have lunch. Around 2:00 PM, we leave for Sarnath, about 10 km from central Varanasi. I take you to Dhamek Stupa and the Sarnath archaeological area while the French-speaking guide explains the Buddhist history in French. We return to Varanasi around sunset. If you have energy, I prefer a short riverfront walk rather than adding another long transfer. Sarnath is noticeably quieter after the larger sightseeing groups leave. Dinner follows at the hotel, where you spend the night.
I start early because the ghats are at their most active before the heat and crowds build up. Around 5:00 AM, we reach the Ganga for a sunrise boat ride, passing Dashashwamedh Ghat, Man Mandir Ghat and the cremation ghats. I always explain beforehand that cremation activity at Manikarnika Ghat is continuous and should be observed quietly without photography. After breakfast, we visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple for morning darshan rather than arriving around midday, when the temple schedule includes a Bhog period. We then visit Annapurna Temple and the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor. Lunch and rest follow because walking through the old lanes in the afternoon heat can be tiring. Later, we visit Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple and Assi Ghat. Around 7:00 PM, we attend the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat. The crowds can be heavy, so I keep some extra walking time. You return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay in Varanasi.
After breakfast, I keep the final morning focused on the northern side of the old city so you are not crossing Varanasi unnecessarily before departure. We visit Kal Bhairav Temple and then walk through selected lanes around the old city with the French-speaking guide explaining the small shrines, local customs and everyday life of Kashi. The lanes are narrow and vehicles cannot enter many sections, so comfortable walking shoes help. We return to the hotel for check-out and lunch. If your train or flight is later in the day, I may add Durga Kund Temple or Tulsi Manas Mandir depending on the available time. I avoid adding another major attraction when the departure schedule is tight because Varanasi traffic can delay airport and railway station transfers. After the final transfer, the Varanasi Tour Package with French Speaking Guide concludes.
