Everything you need to know before visiting Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple — how to book the free Sugam Darshan pass, all 8 darshan slot timings, 3 daily aarti schedules, what to carry, how to reach, and what to expect inside.

The Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust does not sell any paid VIP ticket, priority pass, or paid fast-track entry for Ram Mandir. Darshan is free for all. The Sugam Darshan pass is also completely free and available only at srjbtkshetra.in. Any travel agent, website or individual charging money for a "Ram Mandir VIP pass" is committing fraud.
Our team helps you plan your complete Ayodhya visit — transport, accommodation, itinerary and guide services. We do not charge for the darshan pass itself.
When Ram Mandir was inaugurated on January 22, 2024, it became immediately clear that the volume of devotees arriving daily — sometimes exceeding 1 to 2 lakh pilgrims on peak days — required a structured darshan system. That is exactly what Sugam Darshan provides.
Through the official Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra website, pilgrims can book a specific 2-hour darshan window completely free of charge. Instead of joining an unpredictable general queue that can take 3 to 6 hours, Sugam Darshan holders enter through a dedicated gate at their booked time and experience darshan in a more organised, calmer manner.
It is not a VIP pass in the commercial sense — there is no priority over other devotees inside the sanctum. It is simply a smarter, more respectful way to visit one of the most important temples ever built.

Best Time to Visit
Oct–Mar, weekday mornings
First-time visitors often don't know what the experience actually feels like. Here is an honest, step-by-step account of what happens from the moment you arrive.
Before entering the complex, all pilgrims pass through a thorough security check — similar to airport security. Bags are X-rayed, shoes are removed and sent through a separate belt, and you walk through a metal detector. This process is professional and respectful. Budget 10–20 minutes for this at busy times.
Travel light. Lockers are available outside for large bags.
Once inside, you walk along the beautifully designed parikrama (circumambulation) path that surrounds the main temple. The path is paved with pink Bansi Paharpur stone — cool underfoot even in summer. The temple's Nagara spire (shikhara) rising 161 feet comes into full view from here.
Take your time. The architecture and carvings are extraordinary — don't rush past them.
The inner sanctum — Garbha Griha — houses the idol of Ram Lalla, the child form of Lord Ram. The idol was consecrated on January 22, 2024. The sanctum is small and the darshan queue moves in an organised manner. Pilgrims receive a few moments directly in front of Ram Lalla.
Keep your emotions and pace calm. The atmosphere is deeply devotional — there is no rushing inside.
Ram Lalla is depicted as a 5-year-old child in a divine standing posture. The idol — carved in black stone by sculptor Arun Yogiraj — is adorned with silk garments, gold jewellery and fresh flowers. Pilgrims can see the full idol clearly. This is the moment millions travel thousands of kilometres for.
No photography inside the sanctum. Simply be present.
After darshan of Ram Lalla, the exit path takes you past several smaller shrines within the complex — dedicated to Kaushalya Mata, Lakshmana, Bharat, Shatrughan, Hanuman Ji and Sita Mata. Take a few minutes to offer prayers at each. The complex also has a museum, and vedic pathshalas.
Allocate at least 45–60 minutes for the full experience including subsidiary shrines.

November / December
Celebrates the wedding anniversary of Ram and Sita. The temple is decorated as a wedding venue. Extremely moving for devotees. Heavy footfall in Ayodhya for 2–3 days around this occasion.

Sugam Darshan is the official time-slot based free darshan system at Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Temple, Ayodhya. It was introduced to manage the massive pilgrim footfall at Ram Mandir, which can exceed 1–2 lakh visitors on peak days. With a Sugam Darshan pass, pilgrims are assigned a specific 2-hour darshan window and enter through a dedicated gate — avoiding the general queue that can take 3–6 hours on busy days.
Yes, the Sugam Darshan pass is completely free of charge. There is no official fee for Ram Mandir darshan. Any website or agent charging money for a 'Ram Mandir VIP pass' or 'fast-track entry' is fraudulent. Book only from the official Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra website: srjbtkshetra.in
Sugam Darshan slots run from 7:00 AM to 9:00 PM with a break between 12:00 PM and 1:00 PM when the temple closes for internal rituals. Slots: 7–9 AM, 9–11 AM, 11 AM–12 PM, [Closed 12–1 PM], 1–3 PM, 3–5 PM, 5–7 PM, and 7–9 PM (last slot). General queue darshan continues outside these slot hours. Timings may vary on festival days.
In summer (approximately April–September), there are three main aartis: Mangala Aarti at 4:00 AM (awakening aarti), Shringar Aarti at 6:00 AM (adornment aarti), and Sandhya Aarti at 10:00 PM (night aarti). Aarti timings may shift slightly in winter. The evening Sandhya Aarti at 10 PM is particularly spectacular and can be witnessed from the outer courtyard without a pass.
Sugam Darshan passes can be booked up to 45 days in advance on the official website. For festival seasons — Ram Navami, Diwali, Vivah Panchami, and Paush Purnima — slots fill within hours of opening. Book as early as possible for these dates. For regular weekday visits, passes are usually available 1–2 weeks in advance.
You need a government-issued photo ID: Aadhaar Card, Passport, Voter ID, Driving Licence, or PAN Card. You must carry the original document — a digital copy may not be accepted at the security gate. The ID number used during booking must match the document presented at entry.
There is no strict dress code enforced at the gate but traditional attire is strongly encouraged and respected. For men — dhoti-kurta, kurta-pyjama or salwar are ideal. For women — saree, salwar-kameez with dupatta or any modest full-length traditional clothing. Shorts, sleeveless tops, and revealing clothing are considered disrespectful and may attract unwanted attention. Remove footwear before entering the main temple complex.
With a Sugam Darshan pass, the total experience — from entry gate to exit, including darshan of Ram Lalla — typically takes 45 minutes to 1.5 hours, depending on the crowd within your time slot. Without a pass (general queue), the wait alone can be 3–6 hours on weekends and festival days.
Yes — Mathura Vrindavan and Ayodhya are both in Uttar Pradesh and can be covered in a 3–4 day North India spiritual circuit. Mathura to Ayodhya is approximately 475 km (7–8 hours by road). Many pilgrims combine Mathura, Vrindavan, Prayagraj and Ayodhya in a single yatra. Our team can plan and guide this complete circuit.
Yes. Ayodhya has developed large designated parking areas near Ram Mandir as part of the city's infrastructure development post-inauguration. However, on peak days (weekends, festivals), parking can fill up by 7–8 AM. Taking a local e-rickshaw or tempo from your hotel or from the railway station is more reliable and avoids parking stress.

Ram Mandir Ayodhya Sugam Darshan is the official free time-slot darshan system introduced by the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Teerth Kshetra Trust to manage the extraordinary pilgrim footfall at the newly inaugurated Ram Janmabhoomi Temple in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh. Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on January 22, 2024, Ram Mandir stands at the exact birthplace of Lord Ram — making it the most significant Hindu temple construction in modern Indian history.
The temple's Nagara-style architecture spans 2.67 acres with the main sanctum rising 161 feet. The idol of Ram Lalla — the child form of Lord Ram — was consecrated in the inner sanctum and is now open for darshan. The complex also houses temples dedicated to other deities, a museum, and facilities for over 50,000 pilgrims per day. On peak days during Ram Navami and Diwali, this number rises dramatically.
Without a Sugam Darshan pass, pilgrims join the general queue — which can take 3 to 6 hours on busy days and 6+ hours during festivals. With a Sugam Darshan pass, you enter through a dedicated gate at your booked 2-hour slot, bypassing the general queue. The entire process from entry to exit typically takes 45 minutes to 1.5 hours. The pass is completely free and available only at srjbtkshetra.in.
Many pilgrims combine the Ayodhya Ram Mandir darshan with a Mathura Vrindavan Braj circuit — visiting the birthplace of Lord Ram in Ayodhya and the birthplace of Lord Krishna in Mathura in the same trip. Both cities are in Uttar Pradesh and can be combined in a 5–7 day North India spiritual yatra. Our team at Mathura Vrindavan Tour Guides can help plan this complete circuit with certified guides, AC transport and VIP darshan arrangements at both destinations.
