The timings of Kashi Vishwanath Temple are from 2:30 AM till 11:00 PM, though darshan takes a break completely from 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM every day. It is advisable to plan for reaching the temple in the late morning of the first day, post mid-day closing and before the evening crowd arrives for the Ganga Aarti. A Monday or Shravan month visit would entail longer wait times irrespective of the timing.
The usage of mobile phones, cameras and luggage is not permitted inside the sanctum at Kashi Vishwanath and these have to be placed at the counter near the entry point before the security checks. One should carry a photo ID in case it is asked for at the entry to the Sugam Darshan queue, and one should not be carrying unnecessary items during both the visit to the temple as well as Sarnath.
One must cover their shoulders and knees at the temple and must also wear shoes that can be removed easily as the temple premises require one to take their footwear off. From October to March, mornings on the boat and evenings at the ghats remain cool enough for a light jacket while afternoons remain warm enough for us to schedule rest time on the second day.
The ghats have uneven stone steps and involve quite a bit of walking between the boat, the temple, old city lanes and Sarnath, which spans over three days at a steady pace, rather than trying to do it in two days. For senior citizens, the pace is further reduced, boat seats are arranged in advance and Sugam Darshan is used for reducing waiting time at the temple.
General darshan at Kashi Vishwanath Temple is free while Sugam Darshan costs ₹250 per head and is booked by us in advance. Also included here is the entry fee at the Sarnath museum. All the above activities and fees are confirmed in writing before your visit while no advance payment is ever asked to confirm the bookings.

Founder & Pilgrimage Travel Expert
Uttar Pradesh, India
Amit Kumar Deshwal was born in Uttar Pradesh, and the pilgrimage circuit he now plans for a living is the one he grew up around. What began as showing visitors the temples he already knew has become a full travel operation — but the working knowledge underneath it is still first-hand.
More than 15,000 guests have travelled with him. Families, elderly parents, first-time visitors and large temple groups — enough of them, over enough years, that very little surprises him now. He knows which darshan queue is worth joining at seven in the morning, which one is not, and what to do when a temple changes its timings on a festival day without telling anyone.
His ground is Ayodhya and Varanasi, extending west into the Braj circuit of Mathura, Vrindavan and Agra. That range matters more than it sounds: it is the difference between handing a guest an itinerary and being able to say, from having stood there, how long the walk actually takes.
The reason Ayodhya Varanasi Guides exists is a frustration he heard from guests over and over — a different agent for the cab, another for the hotel, a third for the guide, and nobody accountable when a darshan slot fell through. His answer was to put all of it in one place, under one number, with the pricing written down before anyone travels.
Every itinerary on this site is planned or reviewed by Amit and his team, and corrected whenever conditions on the ground change.

It covers 3 days and 2 nights in Varanasi with Kashi Vishwanath darshan, the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, a sunrise boat ride and a visit to Sarnath, all guided in English. The schedule spreads activity across three days rather than cramming it into a rushed two.
Sarnath is about 10 km from central Varanasi and the drive typically takes around 40 minutes depending on traffic. We usually allow half a day, including time at the Dhamek Stupa and the museum, without rushing the visit.
The temple opens at 2:30 AM and closes at 11:00 PM daily, with darshan pausing completely between 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM. General darshan is free but queues can run 3 to 5 hours, while Sugam Darshan costs ₹250 per person and cuts the wait to 15 to 30 minutes.
Yes, the evening Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat is included on day one and starts around 6:30 PM. We recommend reaching by 6:00 PM, since arriving even thirty minutes late usually means watching from far behind the crowd.
Yes, the boat ride at dawn on day two passes Manikarnika, the cremation ghat, where fires burn continuously through the day and night. Commentary is kept brief and respectful, and some travelers find the experience emotionally heavy rather than picturesque, which is a normal reaction.
Afternoons between 1 PM and 4 PM can get genuinely uncomfortable for sightseeing most months, so we build in rest time during that window on day two rather than scheduling activities through it. October to March remains the most comfortable stretch for this itinerary.
The English speaking guide and local team book Sugam Darshan through the official temple portal in advance, so you don't need to register separately. This also avoids the common mistake of buying tickets from unofficial agents who often overcharge.
Hotels range from Budget to 5-Star, all located close to the ghats since the old city's narrow lanes limit vehicle access regardless of hotel rating. The English speaking guide accompanies the group through the full 3-day itinerary at every hotel category without additional charge.
Three days covers the ghats, Kashi Vishwanath, the sunrise boat ride and Sarnath at a comfortable pace, with room for a genuine walk through the old city rather than a checklist visit. It is still a focused itinerary, so travelers wanting more temples or a Prayagraj extension should ask about longer packages.
October to March is the recommended window, with cooler mornings that make the sunrise boat ride and evening ghat walks more comfortable. Summer afternoons get intense enough that we build in rest time between 1 PM and 4 PM most days.
Modest clothing covering shoulders and knees is expected, and phones, cameras and leather items are not allowed inside the sanctum — these are deposited at a counter near the entrance. Security checks are strict given the temple's location beside the Gyanvapi Mosque complex.
Yes, the English speaking guide covers Sarnath's Buddhist history in the same detail as the Varanasi temples, including the significance of Buddha's first sermon at this site. This continuity across all three days is part of what distinguishes this package from a generic city tour.
Darshan pauses completely during the temple's aarti windows, including the 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM closure, so a late landing usually pushes the temple visit to early evening instead. The 3-day itinerary has more flexibility to absorb this than a shorter version, since day two and three remain unaffected.
The temple queue and ghat steps involve walking and standing, which the extra day helps offset by spreading activity across three days instead of two. Sugam Darshan reduces temple wait time significantly, and the boat ride itself is seated with minimal physical effort.
Child pricing with an extra bed applies to children up to around 11 years sharing a room with two adults, with lower rates available without an extra bed on request. The English speaking guide's service is included in the per-person package price across all hotel categories, with no separate guide fee.
Essential Information
Refunds are calculated based on the cancellation date relative to your travel date, as per the slabs mentioned in our below. Once a refund is approved, the amount is processed back to your original payment method within 7 to 10 working days. Any non-refundable components, such as pre-booked Sugam Darshan tickets already confirmed with the temple trust, will be deducted before the refund is issued. We keep you informed in writing at every stage of the refund process.
Cancellations made 15 days or more before the travel date are free of charge, with a full refund minus any non-refundable bookings already made. Cancellations made between 7 and 14 days before travel attract a charge of 50% of the package cost. Cancellations made within 7 days of travel, or no-shows, are non-refundable, since hotel and guide arrangements are confirmed and paid for by then. Date changes, where possible, are handled separately and are often a simpler option than cancelling.
A booking is confirmed once we receive 25% of the total package cost as advance payment. On confirmation, you will receive a written booking voucher covering your hotel, guide and transport details for all three days, along with Sugam Darshan ticket confirmation once booked. All vouchers and tickets are shared over email and WhatsApp at least 2 to 3 days before your travel date.
We accept payment via bank transfer, UPI, credit or debit card, and major digital wallets. The advance amount confirms your booking, and the balance is payable before or on arrival, as agreed at the time of confirmation. GST is charged as applicable and will be clearly shown in your invoice. We never ask for full advance payment before sharing written confirmation of your booking.

Package Overview
The Varanasi Tour Package for Australian Travellers starts from ₹13,999 per person and covers three days in Varanasi, run at a pace built for visitors who want detailed context without a rigid, over-scheduled itinerary. It follows the same route as our standard Varanasi circuit, with a government-certified English speaking guide throughout instead of a driver doubling as translator. Three days allows the temple, the ghats and Sarnath without cramming into two.
The signature experience is Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga darshan on day one, timed for early afternoon once the temple's midday closure between 11 AM and 12:30 PM has passed. We book Sugam Darshan in advance at ₹250 per person, cutting a three to five hour queue down to under thirty minutes. That evening we walk to Dashashwamedh Ghat for the Ganga Aarti, arriving by 6 PM before the crowd builds along the steps.
Day two opens with a sunrise boat ride at 5:45 AM past Manikarnika Ghat, followed by a slower walk through the old city lanes, and day three covers Sarnath, roughly forty minutes away, where Buddha delivered his first sermon. This suits Australian travellers who prefer a relaxed but well-organised pace over either extreme. Best travelled between October and March, when mornings on the river are cool and afternoons stay comfortable for walking.

Travel Plan
Our journey begins after lunch time when planes land and all the visitors have been put up in hotels close to ghats, as I insist on being close rather than being star-rated as the lanes in the old city do not allow vehicles to pass at the last leg, and walking is better than crawling through traffic. By early afternoon we are in Kashi Vishwanath Temple, as we plan the visit for that particular period when the temple closes for visitors for the period between 11 AM to 12:30 PM. I book Sugam Darshan tickets for each visitor for ₹250 per head, as the free queue may take up three to five hours, and no one wishes to waste time standing in queues on their first day. My guide explains to them the history of the Jyotirlinga in simple English, which helps the visitors settle down into the tour better than reading anything on paper. By six o'clock we reach Dashashwamedh Ghat in five minutes, as we reach there even before 6 PM, and even half an hour delay will mean sitting in row number fifteen or going by boat, which some visitors prefer to do.
We are on the river by 5:45 AM, beating the heat and the day trippers as well as passing through Manikarnika, where the fire of the funeral pyres burns perpetually. The commentary remains brief here, and I will admit openly that some people find this section difficult to bear rather than picturesque, but that is a normal response rather than the sign of an inadequate tour experience. In the mornings, we stroll through the narrow streets of the old town near Vishwanath Gali to either Sankat Mochan or Durga Temple, depending on the energy of the tourists, which is something that the shorter two-day tour doesn't allow. The afternoons remain free for you because it becomes unbearable to go sightseeing from 1 to 4 PM due to the heat.
Our visit to Sarnath will start in the mid-morning and should take around 40 minutes; here, we shall get to view the Dhamek Stupa and the place where the Buddha gave his first sermon — a much more peaceful place compared to the ghats in the last two days. The museum is worth half an hour's stay if anyone is not in a hurry to catch their flights. By early afternoon, we shall be back in Varanasi to spend the last few hours at this place having our last meal before we leave.

The same itinerary applies to all types of hotels, including darshan at Kashi Vishwanath Temple, aarti at Dashashwamedh ghat, boat ride at dawn, and Sarnath tour. What changes is comfort of the room, distance from ghats, and services offered. Below are the prices per person per night for shared and single room.
Hotel Category | Per Person (Double Sharing) | Per Person (Single) | Child (with bed) |
|---|---|---|---|
Budget | ₹13,999 | ₹19,499 | ₹10,999 |

An English speaking guide will accompany the group throughout the tour free of charge in all categories of hotels.
