The gates of Kashi Vishwanath Temple open up at 2:30 AM, while the closing time is at 11:00 PM, although darshan stops for 1 hour and 30 minutes from 11:00 AM till 12:30 PM daily. Try arriving at the temple in the early afternoon on day one, after the middle-of-the-day break and before the crowds start accumulating ahead of Ganga Aarti; a Monday or Shravan month visit will entail longer waiting lines anyway.
No phones, cameras or bags are allowed inside the sanctum of Kashi Vishwanath and should be left at the desk next to the main entrance to the temple. Bring with you a photo ID, which might be asked for at the Sugam Darshan entrance gate, as well as only the essential things both at the temple and at Sarnath.
Cover your shoulders and knees at the temple, and take off-easy-to-remove footwear, because you'll need to take them off before entering the temple. From October till March, mornings at the boat and evenings at the ghat will be quite cold for a jacket, while afternoons will still be quite warm to allow for rest time on day two.
Prepare for the fact that the ghats will have an uneven stone pavement and that there will be plenty of walking on three consecutive days from the boat, through the temple, through the old town lanes to Sarnath. For senior tourists, we slow down the pace, arrange the boat seating in advance and apply for the Sugam Darshan to decrease the standing time at the temple.
General darshan at Kashi Vishwanath is free of charge, while Sugam Darshan requires paying a fee of ₹250 for a ticket, which we take care of booking in advance. Also, any entrance fee for the museum at Sarnath is booked in advance for you. All these services in the package are guaranteed to you in writing before the trip, and no deposit is required for booking.

Founder & Pilgrimage Travel Expert
Uttar Pradesh, India
Amit Kumar Deshwal was born in Uttar Pradesh, and the pilgrimage circuit he now plans for a living is the one he grew up around. What began as showing visitors the temples he already knew has become a full travel operation — but the working knowledge underneath it is still first-hand.
More than 15,000 guests have travelled with him. Families, elderly parents, first-time visitors and large temple groups — enough of them, over enough years, that very little surprises him now. He knows which darshan queue is worth joining at seven in the morning, which one is not, and what to do when a temple changes its timings on a festival day without telling anyone.
His ground is Ayodhya and Varanasi, extending west into the Braj circuit of Mathura, Vrindavan and Agra. That range matters more than it sounds: it is the difference between handing a guest an itinerary and being able to say, from having stood there, how long the walk actually takes.
The reason Ayodhya Varanasi Guides exists is a frustration he heard from guests over and over — a different agent for the cab, another for the hotel, a third for the guide, and nobody accountable when a darshan slot fell through. His answer was to put all of it in one place, under one number, with the pricing written down before anyone travels.
Every itinerary on this site is planned or reviewed by Amit and his team, and corrected whenever conditions on the ground change.

It covers 3 days and 2 nights in Varanasi with Kashi Vishwanath darshan, the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, a sunrise boat ride and a visit to Sarnath, all guided in detailed English. The schedule is built around clear timing and context rather than an improvised or rushed checklist.
Sarnath is about 10 km from central Varanasi and the drive typically takes around 40 minutes depending on traffic. We usually allow half a day, including time at the Dhamek Stupa and the museum, without rushing the visit.
The temple opens at 2:30 AM and closes at 11:00 PM daily, with darshan pausing completely between 11:00 AM and 12:30 PM. General darshan is free but queues can run 3 to 5 hours, while Sugam Darshan costs ₹250 per person and cuts the wait to 15 to 30 minutes.
Yes, the evening Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat is included on day one and starts around 6:30 PM. We recommend reaching by 6:00 PM, since arriving even thirty minutes late usually means watching from far behind the crowd.
Yes, the boat ride at dawn on day two passes Manikarnika, the cremation ghat, where fires burn continuously through the day and night. Commentary is kept brief and respectful, and some travelers find the experience emotionally heavy rather than picturesque, which is a normal reaction.
The guide, temple explanations and all commentary are delivered in clear, detailed English, with a set daily schedule rather than a loosely planned itinerary. The stops and route are the same as our standard Varanasi circuit, adjusted in structure and delivery rather than substance.
The English speaking guide and local team book Sugam Darshan through the official temple portal in advance, so you don't need to register separately. This also avoids the common mistake of buying tickets from unofficial agents who often overcharge.
Hotels range from Budget to 5-Star, all located close to the ghats since the old city's narrow lanes limit vehicle access regardless of hotel rating. The English speaking guide accompanies the group through the full 3-day itinerary at every hotel category without additional charge.
Three days covers the ghats, Kashi Vishwanath, the sunrise boat ride and Sarnath at a comfortable pace, with room for a genuine walk through the old city rather than a checklist visit. It is still a focused itinerary, so travelers wanting more temples or a Prayagraj extension should ask about longer packages.
October to March is the recommended window, with cooler mornings that make the sunrise boat ride and evening ghat walks more comfortable. Summer afternoons get intense enough that we build in rest time between 1 PM and 4 PM most days.
Modest clothing covering shoulders and knees is expected, and phones, cameras and leather items are not allowed inside the sanctum — these are deposited at a counter near the entrance. Security checks are strict given the temple's location beside the Gyanvapi Mosque complex.
Yes, the English speaking guide covers Sarnath's Buddhist history in the same detail as the Varanasi temples, including the significance of Buddha's first sermon at this site. This continuity across all three days is part of what distinguishes this package from a generic city tour.
Darshan pauses completely during the temple's aarti windows, including the 11:00 AM to 12:30 PM closure, so a late landing usually pushes the temple visit to early evening instead. The 3-day itinerary has more flexibility to absorb this than a shorter version, since day two and three remain unaffected.
The temple queue and ghat steps involve walking and standing, which the extra day helps offset by spreading activity across three days instead of two. Sugam Darshan reduces temple wait time significantly, and the boat ride itself is seated with minimal physical effort.
Child pricing with an extra bed applies to children up to around 11 years sharing a room with two adults, with lower rates available without an extra bed on request. The English speaking guide's service is included in the per-person package price across all hotel categories, with no separate guide fee.
Essential Information
Refunds are calculated based on the cancellation date relative to your travel date, as per the slabs mentioned in our below. Once a refund is approved, the amount is processed back to your original payment method within 7 to 10 working days. Any non-refundable components, such as pre-booked Sugam Darshan tickets already confirmed with the temple trust, will be deducted before the refund is issued. We keep you informed in writing at every stage of the refund process.
Cancellations made 15 days or more before the travel date are free of charge, with a full refund minus any non-refundable bookings already made. Cancellations made between 7 and 14 days before travel attract a charge of 50% of the package cost. Cancellations made within 7 days of travel, or no-shows, are non-refundable, since hotel and guide arrangements are confirmed and paid for by then. Date changes, where possible, are handled separately and are often a simpler option than cancelling.
A booking is confirmed once we receive 25% of the total package cost as advance payment. On confirmation, you will receive a written booking voucher covering your hotel, guide and transport details for all three days, along with Sugam Darshan ticket confirmation once booked. All vouchers and tickets are shared over email and WhatsApp at least 2 to 3 days before your travel date.
We accept payment via bank transfer, UPI, credit or debit card, and major digital wallets. The advance amount confirms your booking, and the balance is payable before or on arrival, as agreed at the time of confirmation. GST is charged as applicable and will be clearly shown in your invoice. We never ask for full advance payment before sharing written confirmation of your booking.

Package Overview
The Varanasi Tour Package for American Travellers starts from ₹13,999 per person and covers three days in Varanasi, run at a pace built for visitors used to clear scheduling and detailed context rather than a rushed checklist. It follows the same route as our standard Varanasi circuit, with a government-certified English speaking guide throughout instead of a driver doubling as translator. Three days allows the temple, the ghats and Sarnath without cramming into two.
The signature experience is Kashi Vishwanath Jyotirlinga darshan on day one, timed for early afternoon once the temple's midday closure between 11 AM and 12:30 PM has passed. We book Sugam Darshan in advance at ₹250 per person, cutting a three to five hour queue down to under thirty minutes. That evening we walk to Dashashwamedh Ghat for the Ganga Aarti, arriving by 6 PM before the crowd builds along the steps.
Day two opens with a sunrise boat ride at 5:45 AM past Manikarnika Ghat, followed by a slower walk through the old city lanes, and day three covers Sarnath, roughly forty minutes away, where Buddha delivered his first sermon. This suits American travellers who prefer detailed historical context and a set schedule over improvised sightseeing. Best travelled between October and March, when mornings on the river are cool and afternoons stay comfortable for walking.

Travel Plan
We commence post lunch when flights have landed and everyone has settled in the hotel near the ghats, I try my best to get closer hotels instead of five-star hotels, the roads of the old city are too small for any vehicle and walking would be better. By early afternoon we will reach Kashi Vishwanath and the timing should be after the closure of temple between 11 AM to 12:30 PM and then before the evening crowds gather. The Sugam Darshan should be booked beforehand by me at ₹250 per head because otherwise waiting in the free queue may take three to five hours and no one would like to stand in queue on their first day. The guide will take the visitors around explaining the history of the Jyotirlinga in English and simple words. By 6 PM we will reach the Dashashwamedh Ghat taking only 5 minutes and reaching before 6 PM, even half an hour late would mean that one needs to sit from 15 rows back in the ghat and some may opt for the boat as well. We eat dinner in nearby place and sleep in Varanasi.
We head out to the river at 5:45 AM before the heat and tourists begin. We float past Manikarnika where the cremation fires never cease burning – I make my remarks brief in this section, and I will say frankly that some visitors may find this part difficult instead of beautiful, and that is just natural, not a mistake in the tour. Following breakfast we take our time walking through the streets of the ancient city around Vishwanath Gali, visiting either Sankat Mochan or Durga Temple based on how energetic our group is, which is something we simply cannot do on the shortened two-day trip. Afternoons are free for us, since the heat between 1 PM and 4 PM is unbearable during most months.
By mid-morning, we head to Sarnath, a simple 40-minute drive, where we will visit the Dhamek Stupa and the place where Buddha gave his first sermon, in contrast to the hustle and bustle of the ghats over the past two days. If there is no time constraint for any flight, the museum visit is worth spending half an hour at. We are back in Varanasi in the early afternoon to enjoy our last lunch. Three days would suffice to cover Varanasi, which is actually the purpose of visiting Varanasi Tour Package for American Travellers.

Pricing
Price of the Varanasi Tour Package for American Tourists is variable depending upon the hotel category as the room stay forms the major component in the package cost. The same itinerary is followed by all the hotel categories which includes darshan of Kashi Vishwanath, aarti of Ganga at Dashashwamedh ghat, riverboat journey at sunrise and Sarnath tour. Prices are given on a per person basis for double and single occupancy with additional child price with extra bed.
Hotel Category | Per Person (Double Sharing) | Per Person (Single) | Child (with bed) |
|---|---|---|---|
Budget | ₹13,999 | ₹19,499 | ₹10,999 |
Standard | ₹15,999 | ₹22,499 | ₹12,499 |
3-Star | ₹19,999 | ₹27,999 | ₹14,999 |
4-Star | ₹25,999 | ₹36,999 | ₹18,999 |
5-Star | ₹34,999 | ₹49,999 | ₹25,999 |
Single occupancy is pricier because the cost of the room is not shared among two guests. Pricing for child with extra bed will be charged to children aged 11 and below who share the room with two adults. Without extra bed, the cost will be lesser upon request. The English-speaking guide will come along with the group for all hotel levels without extra cost.
