Ram Mandir Darshan Rules You Should Know Before you enter the Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, remember that mobile phones, cameras, bags, and all electronic items are strictly prohibited inside. There are free cloakrooms near the entry gates where you can deposit your belongings, but during peak hours these counters get crowded, so it saves time to leave everything in your hotel or vehicle and carry only your ID. Wearing slip-on footwear also helps, since the shoe deposit line moves faster without laces. If you have booked a Sugam Darshan slot, reach the gate 30 to 45 minutes early, as security checks and QR verification take time on busy days.
The Right Order to Visit Ayodhya's Temples Local tradition holds that you should visit Hanuman Garhi before going for Ram Lalla's darshan, as devotees believe seeking Hanuman's blessings first opens the path to Lord Ram. Most first-time visitors don't know this and end up doing it the other way around. Planning your day in the correct sequence — Hanuman Garhi, then Ram Mandir, then Kanak Bhawan and Dashrath Mahal — also happens to be the most efficient walking route, so you cover everything without backtracking. Ending the day with the Saryu Aarti at Ram Ki Paidi at dusk completes the circuit beautifully.
Best Time of Day for Each Aarti Timing your visit around the aartis makes all the difference to the experience. In Varanasi, the evening Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat begins around sunset and is best viewed from a boat on the river rather than the crowded steps. The sunrise boat ride the next morning, gliding past the 84 ghats as the city wakes, is a completely different and equally moving experience — so try to keep both on your plan. In Ayodhya, the Saryu Aarti at Ram Ki Paidi happens at dusk, and during Deepotsav the entire riverbank glows with lakhs of diyas.
What to Wear and Carry Dress in simple, modest clothing that covers the knees and shoulders, as this is both respectful and recommended at all the temples. Cotton clothes and comfortable walking shoes are ideal, since the ghats of Varanasi and the old-town lanes involve a fair bit of walking. Carry a small bottle of water, especially if you are travelling in the warmer months, and keep a printed copy of your darshan pass as a backup because mobile networks near the temples often get congested. A light shawl is useful for early morning aartis and boat rides when it can get breezy.
Getting Around the Sacred Cities The three cities each have their own travel rhythm, and knowing this saves you time and confusion. In Ayodhya and the narrow lanes of Varanasi, e-rickshaws are the quickest way to cover short distances near the temples, while a private AC cab is far more comfortable for the longer inter-city legs to Prayagraj and Varanasi. Traffic near the main temples peaks during aarti hours, so your driver will usually suggest parking a little away and walking the final stretch. Keeping your travel light and flexible during these busy windows makes the whole journey smoother.
When to Plan Your Yatra and Book Ahead The most comfortable time to undertake this pilgrimage is between October and March, when the weather is cool enough for temple walks, ghat visits, and the sunrise boat ride. Festival periods like Ram Navami and Deepotsav in Ayodhya, and Dev Deepawali and the Magh Mela in Prayagraj, offer an extraordinary spiritual atmosphere, but they also bring very heavy crowds, so darshan slots and hotels fill up weeks in advance. If you are planning around any of these dates, book early and let our team coordinate your darshan passes, stay, and transport so nothing is left to the last minute.

Founder & Pilgrimage Travel Expert
Uttar Pradesh, India
Amit Kumar Deshwal was born in Uttar Pradesh, and the pilgrimage circuit he now plans for a living is the one he grew up around. What began as showing visitors the temples he already knew has become a full travel operation — but the working knowledge underneath it is still first-hand.
More than 15,000 guests have travelled with him. Families, elderly parents, first-time visitors and large temple groups — enough of them, over enough years, that very little surprises him now. He knows which darshan queue is worth joining at seven in the morning, which one is not, and what to do when a temple changes its timings on a festival day without telling anyone.
His ground is Ayodhya and Varanasi, extending west into the Braj circuit of Mathura, Vrindavan and Agra. That range matters more than it sounds: it is the difference between handing a guest an itinerary and being able to say, from having stood there, how long the walk actually takes.
The reason Ayodhya Varanasi Guides exists is a frustration he heard from guests over and over — a different agent for the cab, another for the hotel, a third for the guide, and nobody accountable when a darshan slot fell through. His answer was to put all of it in one place, under one number, with the pricing written down before anyone travels.
Every itinerary on this site is planned or reviewed by Amit and his team, and corrected whenever conditions on the ground change.

Yes, one day is generally sufficient to visit Ayodhya's most important pilgrimage sites if the itinerary is planned properly. A typical full-day tour covers Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan, Dashrath Mahal, Ram Ki Paidi, Nageshwarnath Temple, Sita Rasoi, and a few additional landmarks. Starting early in the morning allows pilgrims to complete Ram Mandir darshan before peak crowds arrive. While a single day is enough for the major attractions, travelers who wish to explore Ayodhya's history, attend multiple aartis, or visit lesser-known temples may benefit from an overnight stay.
Most One Day Ayodhya Tour Packages cover the city's most significant religious and cultural attractions. These typically include Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan, Dashrath Mahal, Ram Ki Paidi, Nageshwarnath Temple, Sita Rasoi, and Tulsi Smarak Bhawan. Some itineraries may also include Mani Parvat and Guptar Ghat if time permits. These places are closely associated with the life and legacy of Lord Ram and are considered essential stops for pilgrims visiting Ayodhya for the first time.
The cost of a One Day Ayodhya Tour Package depends on factors such as transportation type, group size, guide services, and pickup location. Budget-friendly shared tours may start at lower rates, while private cab packages are generally priced higher due to personalized service and flexibility. Packages that include professional guides, airport or railway station transfers, and premium vehicles may also cost more. Travelers should compare inclusions carefully, as the cheapest package may not include parking charges, waiting time, or assistance during temple visits.
Yes, Ram Mandir darshan is one of the primary highlights of a One Day Ayodhya Tour Package and can easily be completed along with other major attractions. Most tour operators schedule the visit early in the day to reduce waiting time and manage crowds efficiently. During regular days, darshan can usually be completed comfortably, but on weekends, public holidays, and major religious festivals, larger crowds may increase waiting times. Starting early and following the recommended itinerary helps ensure a smooth pilgrimage experience.
The best time to visit Ayodhya is between October and March when the weather remains pleasant for sightseeing and temple visits. During these months, temperatures are comfortable, making it easier to walk between attractions and stand in darshan queues. Ayodhya is especially vibrant during festivals such as Ram Navami and Deepotsav, attracting devotees from across India and abroad. While these festivals offer a unique spiritual atmosphere, travelers should book transportation and accommodations well in advance due to increased demand.
Security regulations at Ram Mandir may restrict the carrying of mobile phones, cameras, smart devices, and large bags inside certain areas of the temple complex. Since security guidelines can change periodically, visitors should verify the latest rules before their visit. Many pilgrims prefer carrying only essential items and using authorized locker facilities when available. Following security instructions helps ensure a smooth darshan experience and minimizes delays at entry checkpoints.
A complete Ayodhya sightseeing tour typically requires around 8 to 10 hours. This duration allows sufficient time for temple visits, darshan queues, local travel, photography at permitted locations, meal breaks, and participation in spiritual activities. Travelers arriving early in the morning can comfortably cover the city's major attractions in a single day. However, during festival seasons and peak pilgrimage periods, additional time may be needed due to higher visitor numbers and longer waiting times.
A tour guide is not mandatory, but many visitors find a knowledgeable local guide extremely helpful. Guides provide historical context, religious significance, and lesser-known stories associated with sites such as Ram Janmabhoomi, Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan, and Dashrath Mahal. They can also help optimize the sightseeing route, reduce confusion, and answer questions about rituals, traditions, and local customs. First-time visitors often benefit the most from guided tours because they gain a deeper understanding of Ayodhya's spiritual heritage.
Yes, most senior citizens can comfortably enjoy a One Day Ayodhya Tour Package with proper planning. Private transportation minimizes physical strain and allows flexible rest breaks between attractions. Since some walking is required near temple complexes, especially around Ram Mandir, comfortable footwear and adequate hydration are recommended. Families traveling with elderly pilgrims often prefer private tours because they can move at their own pace and avoid the limitations of fixed group schedules.
Visitors should wear modest, comfortable clothing suitable for religious places. Lightweight cotton clothes are ideal during warmer months, while a light jacket may be useful during winter mornings and evenings. Since pilgrims often spend several hours walking and standing in temple queues, comfortable footwear is strongly recommended. Clothing that reflects respect for local customs and religious traditions is appreciated at major temples. Carrying a water bottle, sunglasses, and basic essentials can also make the tour more comfortable.

Travel Plan
Morning: Hanuman Garhi & Ram Janmabhoomi Darshan
Your day begins early, because morning is the calmest and least crowded time at Ayodhya's temples. You start at Hanuman Garhi — tradition says every devotee should seek Hanuman's blessings before visiting Ram Lalla, so this hilltop temple of 76 steps comes first. From here, you proceed for the Sugam Darshan of Ram Lalla at the grand Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, the most sacred moment of the entire day.
Morning summary: An early start with Hanuman Garhi first, followed by Ram Lalla Sugam Darshan at the Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir while the temple is still peaceful.
After the main darshan, you visit Kanak Bhawan, the beautiful "golden palace" temple gifted to Sita, followed by Dashrath Mahal, the ancestral home of Lord Ram. These sites sit close together within walking distance, so the pace stays comfortable. The midday hours also align with the temple Bhog break, making this the ideal time for a relaxed lunch before the afternoon.
Midday summary: Darshan at Kanak Bhawan and Dashrath Mahal within easy walking distance, timed around the midday Bhog break for a comfortable lunch and rest.
The afternoon is spent exploring Ayodhya's other revered spots — Sita Ki Rasoi, the mythological kitchen of Goddess Sita near the Janmabhoomi complex, and the ancient Nageshwarnath Temple, believed to have been established by Lord Ram's son Kush. Your certified guide brings each site alive with the stories and significance behind it, turning simple sightseeing into a meaningful experience.
Afternoon summary: A guided visit to Sita Ki Rasoi, Nageshwarnath Temple, and other sacred spots, with local stories that deepen the connection to Ayodhya's history.
As the sun sets, you reach Ram Ki Paidi on the banks of the holy Saryu River for the grand evening Saryu Aarti — Ayodhya's own version of the Ganga Aarti. Rows of diyas light the ghats, conch shells sound, and Vedic hymns fill the air in a moment that stays with every pilgrim long after they leave. This peaceful, powerful experience is the perfect close to your Ayodhya darshan before your departure transfer.
Evening summary: The day ends with the breathtaking Saryu Aarti at Ram Ki Paidi, a serene and spiritual finale to your one-day Ayodhya pilgrimage.
