Start early. The sunrise boat ride usually begins around 5:00 AM, and the exact time changes with the season. Carry a light layer during winter mornings because the river can feel cooler than the streets.
Expect crowds at the Ganga Aarti. Dashashwamedh Ghat becomes very busy before the evening ceremony, so I recommend reaching the area early. Walking is often necessary because vehicles cannot reach the riverfront directly.
Dress appropriately for Kashi Vishwanath. Wear modest clothing covering the shoulders and knees, and choose slip-on footwear because shoes must be removed before entering religious areas.
Respect the cremation ghats. Manikarnika Ghat is an active cremation ground, not a conventional sightseeing attraction. Do not photograph cremation rituals or mourners, and follow your guide's instructions while passing the area.
Book the French guide early. French-speaking guides are limited, particularly during the October-to-March season. Share your travel date in advance so guide availability can be checked before the tour is confirmed.

Founder & Pilgrimage Travel Expert
Uttar Pradesh, India
Amit Kumar Deshwal was born in Uttar Pradesh, and the pilgrimage circuit he now plans for a living is the one he grew up around. What began as showing visitors the temples he already knew has become a full travel operation — but the working knowledge underneath it is still first-hand.
More than 15,000 guests have travelled with him. Families, elderly parents, first-time visitors and large temple groups — enough of them, over enough years, that very little surprises him now. He knows which darshan queue is worth joining at seven in the morning, which one is not, and what to do when a temple changes its timings on a festival day without telling anyone.
His ground is Ayodhya and Varanasi, extending west into the Braj circuit of Mathura, Vrindavan and Agra. That range matters more than it sounds: it is the difference between handing a guest an itinerary and being able to say, from having stood there, how long the walk actually takes.
The reason Ayodhya Varanasi Guides exists is a frustration he heard from guests over and over — a different agent for the cab, another for the hotel, a third for the guide, and nobody accountable when a darshan slot fell through. His answer was to put all of it in one place, under one number, with the pricing written down before anyone travels.
Every itinerary on this site is planned or reviewed by Amit and his team, and corrected whenever conditions on the ground change.

The tour includes an early morning Ganga boat ride, major ghat sightseeing, Kashi Vishwanath Temple visit, evening Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat and assistance from a French-speaking guide during the scheduled activities.
This is a one-day Varanasi tour covering the early morning sunrise boat ride, temple and old-city sightseeing during the day and the evening Ganga Aarti.
The boat ride generally begins around 5:00 AM, with the exact pickup and departure time adjusted according to the sunrise time, season and local boat operating conditions.
The boat route can cover important riverfront areas including Assi Ghat, Man Mandir Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat and the area around Manikarnika Ghat, depending on river conditions and the boat route permitted that day.
Yes, Kashi Vishwanath Temple is included in the planned sightseeing. The visit is scheduled according to temple timings, crowd conditions and the time available between the morning boat ride and evening Ganga Aarti.
Yes, the evening Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat is the main evening experience of the tour. The exact aarti timing changes with the season, so the day's schedule is adjusted accordingly.
A French-speaking guide is arranged for the scheduled sightseeing and cultural experiences, subject to availability on your selected date. Advance booking is recommended because French-speaking guides are limited in Varanasi.
The guide explains the history of the ghats, temple traditions, Ganga rituals, local customs and the significance of the Ganga Aarti in French, allowing you to understand the experiences as they happen.
Boat services generally operate throughout the main travel season, but the ride can be changed or cancelled because of weather, fog, high or low river levels, safety restrictions or local regulations.
Yes, the tour can suit senior travellers, but the early start and walking around the ghats and old city should be considered. Private transfers can reduce unnecessary walking between sightseeing points.
Yes, the schedule can be adjusted around your hotel location, arrival time, sightseeing preferences and walking comfort, subject to the fixed timing of the evening Ganga Aarti.
October to March is generally more comfortable for the early morning boat ride and walking around the ghats. Festival dates can be much more crowded, so additional time should be allowed for local transfers.
Meals are not automatically included unless specifically mentioned in your selected package option. Restaurants or meal arrangements can be added according to your preference.
VIP darshan, special puja, paid rituals and optional temple services are not included in the standard tour. These services can be requested separately and are subject to availability and applicable charges.
Modest clothing covering the shoulders and knees is recommended for temple visits. Comfortable slip-on footwear is also useful because shoes must be removed at religious sites.
Flights and train tickets to and from Varanasi are not included in the standard tour. Pickup and drop can be arranged separately according to your arrival and departure details.
Photography is generally possible around many ghats and riverfront areas, but cremation rituals and mourners at Manikarnika Ghat should not be photographed. Temple photography rules must also be followed.
It is advisable to book several days in advance, particularly between October and March. Early confirmation gives more time to check the availability of a French-speaking guide for your selected date.
The tour normally ends after the Ganga Aarti with a transfer back to your hotel or another agreed drop-off point in Varanasi.
Share your preferred date, number of travellers and hotel location with Ayodhya Varanasi Guide. The team can check French-speaking guide availability, arrange the boat ride and confirm the final sightseeing schedule.

Package Overview
Most first-time visitors to Varanasi think the Ganga Aarti is the main experience, but I find that the river feels completely different at sunrise. The ghats are quieter, priests begin their morning rituals, boats move slowly across the Ganga, and the city starts waking up around you. Having a guide who explains these moments in French helps you understand what you are seeing rather than simply taking photographs.
At Ayodhya Varanasi Guide, I have planned this Ganga Aarti and Sunrise Boat Tour with French Guide around the two sides of Varanasi's riverfront. The experience begins early with a sunrise boat ride on the Ganga, passing important ghats and observing the morning rituals from the water. Later, you can visit Kashi Vishwanath Temple and explore the surrounding old-city lanes before taking a break during the hotter afternoon hours. In the evening, the focus returns to the river with the Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat, where the French-speaking guide explains the sequence and meaning of the ceremony.
This tour suits travellers who have only one day in Varanasi but want to experience its most important river traditions without rushing between too many attractions. French-speaking guide availability is limited, particularly during the October-to-March season, so I recommend sharing your travel date early. If a French-speaking guide cannot be confirmed for your date, Ayodhya Varanasi Guide will inform you before the booking is finalised rather than replacing the guide without your approval.

Travel Plan
Most first-time visitors ask me whether the boat ride is better at sunrise or sunset, and for this tour I always prefer sunrise. Around 5:00 AM, I arrange pickup from your hotel and take you towards the river. We board the boat and slowly pass important ghats including Assi Ghat, Man Mandir Ghat, Dashashwamedh Ghat and Manikarnika Ghat as the city begins its morning rituals. Your French-speaking guide explains the ghats, traditions and daily life along the river. After the boat ride, we return for breakfast and a short rest.
After breakfast and some rest, we continue towards Kashi Vishwanath Temple for darshan, subject to the temple's entry and crowd conditions. I keep this part of the day around the cooler hours because the old-city lanes can become difficult to walk through in the afternoon heat. We also explore the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and nearby lanes with the French-speaking guide explaining the history and local customs. Lunch is followed by free time at the hotel or a short rest before the evening programme.
In the evening, we leave for Dashashwamedh Ghat with enough time to manage the crowds and walking near the river. The Ganga Aarti takes place after sunset, with the exact timing changing according to the season. Your guide explains the sequence of the ceremony in French so you can follow what the priests are doing and why. After the aarti, we walk back through the nearby area and return to your hotel or chosen drop-off point, completing the one-day Varanasi experience.
